Ramsey's Vesey leads the pack in Mahwah 10K Run

Ramsey's Elizabeth Vesey led the way to the finish for the 61 females in the 10K Division of the 10th Annual Mahwah 10K-5K-2K Runs on Sunday (Septemeber 23) as the 25-year old broke the tape in 42:13. Mahwah's Anthony Belgiovine was runnerup in the field of 189 competitors who finished the initial 10K Run. The 17-year old was clocked in 35:12 as he completed the 6.2-mile run.
All the proceeds go to the Mahwah Schools Foundation that provides funding to all six Mahwah Public Schools in the form of teachers grants. Among the many local sponsors, there were a dozen who donated $2500 each to support the event. They were Bolkema Fuel Co., Cisco Systems, Commerce Bank, Flyte Time, Hummer of Mahwah, Inserra Supermarkets, LDP Consulting Group, NRG Investment Group, Ramsey Auto Group, Sharp, Stryker plus Window Repairs In Your Home, LLC.
Winning their age groups in the 10K Divison were Oakland's 51-year old Roni Dorsey, Ramsey's 15-year old Ashley Cerf, 24-year old Francesca Lavinga along with Wyckoff's 46-year old Paul Scire and 68-year old Raymond Bondy. Second place awards went to Mahwah's 48-year old Gil Quintero and 50-year old Mary Carol Rossignol, Midland Park's 25-year old Michael Walker plus Ramsey's 39-year old Colleen DiLauro. Finishing third were Mahwah's 32-year old Shadee Barkan, Ramsey's 16-year old Stephen Flanagan, 26-year old Jeni and Jonathan Keresz, 40-year old Lisa Woznicki and 51-year old Kristen Donelan.
In the 5K Division, Ramsey's 50-year old Christian Bahnsen was the first local runner to finish, placing sixth among the 262 runners who completed the 3.1-mile course with a time of 20:01. Mahwah's 40-year old Nancy Sietsma was the first local distaff runner to cross the line, placing fourth among the 86 females in the event with a clocking of 21:27.
Fastest to the finish in their age brackets of the 5K Division were Mahwah's 53-year old Alan Blom who won the men's 50 to 59 competition in 21:47 and 62-year old Betty Kao who broke the tape in the women's 60 and older group with a clocking of 26:26. Picking up runnerup awards were Mahwah's 13-year old Stephen Tretola, 14-year old Erik Moutenot, 29-year old Martin Swynzey and 52-year old Christine Fellner, Ramsey's 30-year old Jennifer Natoli plus Waldwick's 64-year old Ellen Reilly. Placing third were Mahwah's nine-year old Olivia Bagatelle, 20-year old Michael DeSocio and 60-year old Paul Doxey, Oakland's 40-year old Gail Dickard as well as Ramsey's 13-year old Michael Flanagan.
